1.      Introduction

Welcome to Walkington.

By booking a walk with us, you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully before making your reservation.

2.     Booking and Payment

Day Walks

·             Full payment is required at the time of booking

·             Prices are quoted in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include applicable taxes

·             We accept payment by most credit cards and direct transfers

Multi Day Walks

·             A deposit of 25% is required to confirm your booking

·             The remaining balance is due 60 days before the scheduled walk

·             If booking is within 60 days, full payment is required at the time of booking

·             Prices are quoted in NZD and include applicable taxes

·             We accept payment by most credit cards and direct transfers

3.     Cancellation & Refund Policy

Day Walks

·             Cancellations made with more than 48 hours’ notice before the scheduled walk will receive a full refund

·             Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled walk are non-refundable; however, participants may request to reschedule their walk to another available date

·             In case of extreme weather conditions, Walkington reserves the right to reschedule or cancel the walk, offering a full refund or an alternative date

·             No shows and late arrivals will not be eligible for refunds

Multi Day Walks

·             Cancellations made more than 60 days before the scheduled walk will receive a full refund minus a $200 administrative fee

·             Cancellations made within 60 days of the scheduled walk are non-refundable

·             In case of extreme weather conditions, Walkington reserves the right to rearrange your itinerary and/or cancel the walk on any given day. 

·             No shows and late arrivals will not be eligible for refunds

4.   Changes to Itineraries

·             Walkington reserves the right to alter itineraries due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or other unforeseen circumstances

·             Any significant changes will be communicated to participants as soon as possible

·             Should there be extreme weather conditions in the region, we will do our best to rearrange your itinerary to accommodate the situation at the time

5.   Participant Requirements

·             Walkers must be at least 12 years old unless prior arrangements have been made, and minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult

·             Participants must be in good health and have a moderate level of fitness. Walks are suitable for those with low tramping experience but still require moderate fitness levels

·             Each walk is either classified as “easy” (for walkers with moderate fitness, suitable for those with low tramping experience) or “intermediate” (some rough/steep sections, suitable for those with low tramping experience but requiring moderate fitness levels). Walkington does not provide “advanced” hiking options.

·             It is the participants responsibility to inform Walkington of any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary requirements at the time of the booking

·             Proper walking attire, including sturdy footwear is required

6.   Health & Safety

·             All walks take place on well-maintained tracks monitored by Local Councils and the Department of Conservation

·             Walkington follows New Zealand’s Outdoor Safety Code, which includes:

·             Planning the trip and knowing the terrain

·             Carrying appropriate food, water and clothing for all weather conditions

·             Staying together as a group and following designated rules

·             Participants must declare all ages and relevant medical conditions before departure

·             Guides will carry medical kits and self-guided participants are advised to carry their own first aid kits

7.   Conduct & Compliance

·             Participants are expected to respect local guidelines, wildlife and other walkers

·             Walkington reserves the right to remove any participant displaying inappropriate or unsafe behaviour without a refund

·             Alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited during walks 

8.   Privacy Policy

Personal information provided during booking is used solely for operational purposes and will not be shared with third parties without prior consent. Please see our Privacy Policy for more detail.

9.   Force Majeure

Walkington is not responsible for delays, cancellations or changes due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, strikes or government restrictions.
